Several municipal by-laws govern the control and care of pets in Casselman. For more information, please visit the Dog By-laws page.
If you have a dog, you must obtain a dog license. You do not need a permit for cats or other pets.
Dog owners must purchase a license for each dog and ensure that the animals wear their tags. A dog license is valid for one year, from January 1 to December 31. You must renew the license each year before March 31. Late renewals are more expensive. There is a limit of three dogs per address. The dog tag helps identify your pet if it gets lost and will assist you in recovering it. You can receive a fine of $155 for each unlicensed dog.
If you have found a dog or lost your dog, please call the By-law Officer at 613-764-3139, extension 527. If the found animal is wearing a tag, we will attempt to contact the owner so they can retrieve their dog.
