To obtain a lottery licence within the boundaries of the Municipality of Casselman, your organization's application must meet the following charitable objectives:

  • Relief of poverty. 
  • Advancement of education and/or religion. 
  • Any other charitable purpose whose realization is beneficial to the community.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) regulates charitable lottery permits for the province. Certain types of lotteries can be issued at the local municipal office, including: 

  • Bingo events, with a maximum total prize value of $5,550. 
  • Non-electronic raffle or 50/50 lotteries with a maximum total prize value of $50,000. 
  • Other types of lotteries such as window ticket sales, media bingos or others.

Criteria

In order for the Municipality of Casselman to consider an application, the organization must meet the following criteria :

  • Must have been in existence for at least one (1) year. 
  • Must have a place of business in Ontario and demonstrate that it uses these funds to achieve goals or objectives that benefit Ontario and its residents. 

Organizations submitting applications must provide : 

  • A completed application form - available above or on the CAJO. 
  • A cheque for the license fee of 3% of the total prize value, up to a maximum of $50;
  • Any other information deemed useful by the Municipality.


The lottery license application must be submitted at least 45 days before the planned event.
